The DuPont Corporate Remediation Group (CRG) now distinguishes between and
selects remedial actions based on sustainability by performing sustainable
remediation assessments at brownfield sites. The assessments involve
quantifying the elements of various remedial options and calculating parameters
such as carbon dioxide generation and fuel consumption.
An industrial site in Martinsville, Va., serves as an example of the ongoing
program and demonstrates the collaborative process necessary to perform sustainability evaluations. DuPont’s experience is that active collaboration can streamline the remedial action
selection process and reveal new solutions not previously considered. Implementation of this program enhances protection of human health and the
environment and reduces DuPont’s environmental footprint.
