Donald Trump is getting down in the dumps. The real estate mogul recently signed
on to take over the New Jersey Meadowlands Redevelopment project, pledging to
convert 785 acres of garbage dumps into a golf course that rivals Pebble Beach
with luxury high-rises and single family homes.
The Meadowlands Redevelopment project is one of the most complex brownfield
initiatives in the nation. Cherokee Investment Partners, the major investor in
the project, felt that a new developer and day-of-day operator was critical to
ensure that the project would achieve its original vision of a restored
Meadowlands that provided benefits to the local communities and environment.
Cherokee chose Donald Trump and the Trump Organization for its operational
expertise and financial strength.

A property located on a bank of the East River and in a densely developed residential and commercial area, had its work cut out for it from an environmental remediation standpoint.
