 Canadian brownfield policy is still evolving and the market for redeveloping brownfield properties is currently being driven by a handful of companies and private sector entrepreneurs who are willing to take the risk and share the reward of tackling these complex transactions. The focus of this column is on Jannock properties—a company and Mitch Fasken—an entrepreneur who have been redeveloping Canadian brownfield properties.
Jannock Properties Limited has been a market maker and is pushing the edge as a redeveloper of brownfields. Over the past ten years, Jannock has been, and continues to be, involved in several brownfield redevelopment sites within the city of Mississauga, west of Toronto.

A property located on a bank of the East River and in a densely developed residential and commercial area, had its work cut out for it from an environmental remediation standpoint.
