Over the past several years renewable energy has become one of the fastest growing segments throughout the United States. Unprecedented attention has shifted to renewable energy options, such as wind, solar,
bio-fuels, biomass and geothermal due to the federal government’s investment in creating more jobs through the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009. This federal initiative has not only increased green
job opportunities, but also is reportedly having an impact on industries
outside of the green sector in which people have been working for decades, such
as manufacturing and construction.
Companies are seeking niche professionals with specialized skills and years of
experience to fill green positions, such as civil/structural, electrical and mechanical engineers, wind technicians, health and safety professionals, and drafter/designers, among others.

A property located on a bank of the East River and in a densely developed residential and commercial area, had its work cut out for it from an environmental remediation standpoint. The mission was to clean up the land and ultimately make one puzzle piece to a larger urban revitalization project that would be redeveloped as a public library and park ranger station.
