Kleinfelder, a science, design and engineering consulting firm, announced today that their services will expand into Guam and Australia. With the opening of two new international offices, Kleinfelder will bring U.S. standards of practice and software-based tools for geotechnical, environmental and construction materials testing services to overseas markets in need.
“Guam is preparing for tremendous growth,” said Kris Johnson, Kleinfelder vice president and Guam regional manager. “With that growth comes the need for large-scale resources that match the magnitude of the anticipated projects. Kleinfelder will bring the resources, certifications and expertise necessary to help the territory build to its anticipated potential.”
Kleinfelder has spent the past six months working with the U.S. Navy and Air Force in Guam, as well as local design and construction professionals on the island, to learn about local design parameters and regulatory issues. Beginning in September, the firm will have a fully operational local workforce providing design services, followed by a full-scale materials-testing laboratory in a 9,000-square-foot facility opening at the end of October. Kleinfelder anticipates a staff of up to 50 employees. The firm’s presence in Guam will include testing operations, expert personnel, and a wide breadth of U.S.-based resources capable of delivering quality-centric services to clients, teaming partners and government agencies.
Further expanding their global footprint, Kleinfelder will open an office in Melbourne, Australia, in October. “Our vision is to bring globally integrated services to the markets we serve,” said Tim Strawn, vice president of global industrial with Kleinfelder, “and because markets and skill-set needs in Australia closely parallel strategic offerings Kleinfelder provides in the United States, Melbourne is an opportune location to serve our current clientele looking for international consistency from a global partner.”
Kleinfelder will leverage its longstanding enterprise partners in Australia for a combined workforce of 40 professionals. With an initial focus on the energy market, Kleinfelder’s long-term goal is to offer all of its core services in Australia, including transportation, water, commercial, industrial and government work.

Brownfield Stateside Report

by Staff Report
In Michigan, some are predicting a better business climate for redevelopment and regulatory closure of contaminated properties thanks to a bill Michigan Governor Rick Snyder was scheduled to sign last week. The new regulations should have a positive impact on commercial real estate development and brownfields redevelopment resulting in the creation of jobs. |
