GEI Consultants, Inc., a leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological science and engineering firms, announced that its board of directors has elected six new vice presidents.

“I am very pleased to recognize these six talented individuals who have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to the growth of our firm,” said Francis D. Leathers, P.E., president of GEI Consultants. “Their expertise helps form the foundation of GEI’s diverse service offerings and supports our commitment to high quality in our work and client services.”

The newly-elected VP's include:

As regional manager, he is responsible for assuring outstanding project outcomes for GEI’s clients and partners, supporting the area’s six GEI facilities (Carlsbad, Glendale, Bakersfield, Oakland, Sacramento, and Portland, Oregon), as well as other GEI locations across the U.S. His technical expertise lies within the water resource management as well as environmental remediation fields. His geotechnical experience includes eighteen years specializing in all aspects of dam safety work, and his extensive experience managing water resources for the DWR includes several years at an executive level for California water planning programs. Mr. Bennett received both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from the University of California, Davis and is a registered civil engineer and registered geotechnical engineer in the state of California.

Over the course of his career he has worked on many high-profile projects where he has used traditional and advanced analytical techniques to recommend and design support of excavation methods and foundation systems, including major public works projects with difficult engineering challenges. A registered professional engineer and geologist in several states, Dr. Bonita is a member of the Deep Foundations Institute, and currently serves on the Soil Nail and Tailback Committee as well as the Slurry Wall Committee. He specializes in the management of MGP site remediation programs, urban property remediation, urban waterways, regulatory negotiations, and stakeholder communications. In addition, he has been heavily involved in the community outreach and communications coordination for two utilities in New York State. Responsibilities for this project include developing communication strategies, regulatory negotiations and the management of MGP remediation in a complex political environment.  A registered professional engineer, Mr. Hathaway has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
